Hello and welcome to the 3M Lab.

In this video, you will learn how to collect a sample from a high-touch

surface to measure cleaning efficacy using the 3M CleanTrace ATP monitoring system.

You will need a 3M CleanTrace ATP Surface Test UXC and the 3M CleanTrace Luminometer LX25.

Before you begin, make sure your surface is dry.

When you are ready to collect your sample, remove the Surface Test UXC from the device sleeve, taking care to touch only the blue handle.

Do not let the swab touch any surface except that which is to be sampled.

Hold the test between thumb and forefinger so you can easily rotate the swab.

Touch the swab to the surface you are testing and apply enough pressure to cause the wand to flex.

Move your swab in an overlapping zigzag pattern

that covers a 10 centimeter by 10 centimeter or a 4 inch by 4 inch square area.

During sample collection, rotate the swab to ensure sufficient contact between the swab and the surface being sampled.

Continue this process until your full sample is collected.

You can activate and measure this test immediately, or you can wait until you have collected multiple surface samples.

You have up to four hours to activate surface tests.

When you are ready to activate and measure your ATP tests, press the handle down until you feel a click.

Grip the top of the test and shake side to side for at least five seconds.

Insert the test into the CleanTrace Luminometer LX25 and follow the on-screen prompts to take a measurement.

In 10 seconds or less, you'll see the result, a quantitative RLU value and a pass or fail response.

If the RLU value is above 250 or above the facility designated threshold,

the surface should be re-cleaned and re-tested according to your facility's policies and procedures.

You'll follow the same click and shake steps to activate any additional ATP tests

and the same steps to measure your results using the luminometer.
