1
Do you have a minute?
2
I need to talk to you about something that happened yesterday.
3
In our team meeting.
4
We were finalising the project plan.
5
As you know, the concept's already been approved by the client.
6
So this meeting was really just about logistics.
7
Who is responsible for what and by when.
8
But from the outset, Jude wasn't happy with it.
9
He kept insisting that the whole concept wasn't innovative enough, that we should start again from scratch.
10
Which, to be honest, just isn't possible at this stage.
11
Initially, I tried to hear him out.
12
He has so much experience on projects like this, I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt.
13
But he just kept getting more and more worked up and started making comments that were,
14
quite frankly, personal.
15
Direct insults aimed at people in the room.
16
It became really uncomfortable.
17
Whenever anyone tried to speak, Jude just spoke over the top and cut us off.
18
Brendan actually got up and left the meeting.
19
The rest of us tried to be as diplomatic as we could, but Jude wouldn't back down on any of it.
20
The majority at the table were ready to work and excited about the job,
21
but everyone left feeling really deflated and without a clear path forward.
22
I just wanted to flag it with you directly because I think it needs to be addressed.
