1
Do you actually know your English level?
2
Today, I'll be testing your English listening from A1 to C2.
3
Each level will become more difficult.
4
The vocabulary will become more advanced.
5
The sentences will become longer and the ideas will become more complex.
6
And I will slowly start speaking more naturally and like a native English speaker.
7
So watch until the end, answer all the questions and watch until the very end of the video,
8
because that is where I will explain each English level in detail and what it means if you passed a certain level.
9
So here are the rules.
10
Rule one, do not use subtitles the first time you watch this video.
11
Rule two, listen to each section.
12
And at the end of each section, I will ask you three questions.
13
Do your best to answer these questions and put your answers in the comments.
14
If you get two or three correct, you probably understand that level.
15
If you get zero or one correct, then that level is probably too difficult for you right now.
16
This is not an official English listening exam, but it'll give you a good idea where your English listening level is at.
17
So if you're ready, let's get started with A1.
18
This is A1 English.
19
Listen carefully.
20
I am speaking English.
21
I am speaking slowly.
22
I like English.
23
I like teaching English.
24
I want to help you.
25
English is not easy, but you can learn.
26
Listen every day.
27
Speak every day.
28
Little by little, your English gets better.
29
Now answer these three questions to test your listening comprehension.
30
First question, where am I?
31
Question two, what am I making?
32
Question three, what language am I speaking?
33
Here are the answers to these three questions.
34
If you got two or more correct, your English level is probably A1 or higher.
35
Remember to stick around to the very end to see what your English level means.
36
Now let's do the A2 listening test.
37
Listening test.
38
This is A2 English, so listen carefully.
39
Yesterday morning, I woke up at 8 o'clock.
40
I was a little tired, so I made a cup of coffee.
41
After that, I checked my phone and answered some messages.
42
Then I went outside to buy food.
43
There is a small supermarket near my apartment.
44
I bought eggs, rice, chicken, and some fruit.
45
The supermarket was busy because many people were shopping before lunch.
46
When I came home, I cooked a simple meal.
47
It was not amazing, but it was healthy.
48
Later, I cleaned my room, worked on a video, and called a friend.
49
It was a normal day, but I felt happy because I finished everything I needed to do.
50
That was A2.
51
Now answer these three questions.
52
Question one, what time did I wake up?
53
Remember to leave your answers in the comments.
54
Question 2.
55
Where did I go?
56
Question 3.
57
Did I feel happy?
58
Here are the answers.
59
Question 1.
60
The answer was B.
61
8 o'clock.
62
Question 2.
63
The answer was A.
64
To a supermarket.
65
market.
66
Question three, the answer was B, because I finished everything I needed to do.
67
So if you got two or three correct, then you probably understand this level.
68
And let's go on to the next one now.
69
3,000.
70
That is the amount of words you need to understand up to 95% of spoken English.
71
But if you want to keep improving after that, I've now added the next 2,000 most common English words.
72
So you can build the full 5,000 word set and understand up to 98% of spoken English.
73
So now you can start with the 3,000 word PDF, continue with the next 2,000 word PDF,
74
or get both together as the full 5,000 most common English words PDF
75
that will allow you to understand up to 98% of spoken English.
76
And in these new versions, there are now images as well to help you learn even faster.
77
Each PDF includes clear definitions,
78
real examples, and simple organization to help you stop studying random words and focus on the vocabulary that actually matters.
79
You can get them from the link in the description or at VolcaEnglish.com.
80
Last year, I took a train to visit a city I had never been to before.
81
At first, everything was fine.
82
I bought my ticket, found the right platform, and got on the train without any problems.
83
But when I arrived, I realized I had made a small mistake.
84
I got off at the wrong station.
85
The names of the two stations were similar, and I had not checked carefully.
86
For a few minutes, I felt stressed because my phone battery was almost dead.
87
I needed to meet my friend at a cafe, but I did not know where it was.
88
So I went into a small shop and asked the owner for help.
89
He was very kind.
90
He showed me the correct station on a map and told me which bus to take.
91
I was 30 minutes late, but my friend was not angry.
92
Actually, she laughed and said, at least now you have a good travel story.
93
In the end, the mistake was annoying, but it taught me to check station names more carefully.
94
Question 1.
95
What mistake did I make?
96
Question 2.
97
Why did I feel stressed?
98
Question 3.
99
How did the shop owner help me?
100
Remember, you can pause the video if you need more time to answer these questions.
101
Here are the answers to the three questions.
102
Remember, if you got two or three correct, you probably understand this level.
103
Now, let's move on to B2 English.
104
And remember guys to tell me what level you are at in the comments once this whole test is finished.
105
Let's go.
106
Now, B2 English.
107
Remember to listen carefully and to tell me what your English level is at the end.
108
A few months ago, I planned to go hiking with two friends.
109
The weather forecast said there might be light rain in the afternoon, but the morning looked clear, so we decided to go anyway.
110
At first, the hike was beautiful, the sky was grey, but the air was fresh and the trail was quiet.
111
After about an hour, however, the weather started to change.
112
The wind became stronger, the clouds got darker, and we heard thunder in the distance.
113
One of my friends wanted to keep going because we were already close to the viewpoint.
114
But my other friend said it was better to turn back before the storm got worse.
115
At first, I was disappointed because I really wanted to reach the top.
116
But after a few minutes, the rain became extremely heavy and the trail became slippery.
117
That was when I realized turning back was the right decision.
118
If we had continued, we might have been stuck on the mountain during a storm.
119
Later, we found a small restaurant near the trail and had lunch there instead.
120
The day did not go as planned but it was still a good day because we made a safe choice.
121
Sometimes changing your plan is not failure, sometimes it's just common sense.
122
Now time for the three questions.
123
Why did we decide to go hiking at first?
124
Question two.
125
Why did one friend want to continue?
126
Question three.
127
What is the main lesson of the story?
128
Here are the answers to all the questions.
129
If you got two or more correct, you most likely understand this level.
130
Now let's go to the advanced levels.
131
C1 and C2.
132
This is C1 English.
133
Social media is strange because it gives people the feeling of connection while often making them feel more alone.
134
You can open your phone and immediately see what hundreds of people are doing.
135
Someone is traveling, someone is getting married, someone is starting a business,
136
someone is posting a perfect breakfast that probably took 40 minutes to arrange and 5 seconds to eat.
137
At first, this can feel entertaining, but over time, it can quietly change the way you see your own life.
138
Normal moments start to feel boring, rest starts to feel lazy, privacy starts to feel like invisibility
139
and instead of asking did i enjoy this people start asking can i post this the problem is not
140
that social media is evil that would be too simple the real problem is
141
that these platforms are usually designed to keep your attention not necessarily to make you happier wiser
142
or more peaceful and
143
when your attention becomes the product your emotions become part of the business model
144
that does not mean everyone should delete every app and go live in a forest Although honestly, some people on the internet could probably use a weekend outside.
145
It means we need to be more aware of how these platforms shape our habits, our confidence, and even our idea of what a successful life looks like.
146
First question, according to the passage, why is social media strange?
147
Question two, what do I mean by when your attention becomes the product?
148
Question three.
149
What is my attitude towards social media?
150
Here are the answers to those three questions.
151
If you got two or more right, let's go on to the final level.
152
C2, the most advanced English level.
153
Don't just watch this lesson and forget it.
154
Get the workbook for this video on my website and practice everything from the lesson more deeply.
155
Inside, you'll review the grammar, vocabulary, tenses, sentence patterns, comprehension questions,
156
and real English from this video with clear explanations and exercises.
157
Watching helps you understand, but practicing helps you remember.
158
And when you buy five or more workbooks, you automatically get 30% off at checkout.
159
The link is in the description or at volcaenglish.com.
160
Now, see to English.
161
Most English learners do not need this level.
162
So if you don't understand it completely or at all, don't worry.
163
But if you do, then your listening comprehension is extremely strong.
164
This is see to English.
165
Listen carefully.
166
Whenever a new technology changes the way information moves, people tend to have two opposite reactions.
167
One group says it will destroy society.
168
The other says it will solve almost everything.
169
History suggests that both sides are usually exaggerating.
170
When books become easier to produce, more people could access knowledge, but that did not magically make everyone wise.
171
When television became popular, people could see the world from their living rooms, but they could also be influenced by whoever controlled the screen.
172
Now we are living through a similar shift with algorithms, artificial intelligence, and personalized feeds.
173
The issue is not simply that information is available.
174
The issue is that information is selected, ranked, shortened, framed, and delivered to us before we even realize a choice has been made.
175
That creates a strange situation.
176
People feel more informed because they see more content, but they may actually be seeing a narrower version of reality.
177
Not because someone is always lying to them, but because the system learns what keeps them watching.
178
Over time, that can make public conversation more emotional, more reactive, and less patient.
179
Complicated problems start to look simple, opponents start to look evil, and uncertainty starts to look like weakness.
180
The real danger is not that technology thinks for us.
181
The real danger is that it trains us to stop thinking slowly.
182
And slow thinking is where judgment, humility, and real understanding usually begin.
183
First question.
184
What does the speaker suggest about people's reactions to new technology?
185
Question two, what is the main concern about algorithms and personalized feeds?
186
Question three, what does the speaker mean by technology trains us to stop thinking slowly?
187
Here are the answers to those three questions.
188
If you got two or more correct, then your English comprehension is very good.
189
That means you could understand fast, complex, and abstract English with layered ideas, implied meaning, and native style phrasing.
190
Again, guys, all the levels are only an estimate.
191
It's not exact, but it gives you a good idea where your English level is currently at.
192
Now, guys, time for your results.
193
If you pass level A1, you can understand very basic English when it's slow and clear.
194
If you pass level A2, you can understand simple, everyday English about familiar topics.
195
If you pass level B1, then you can understand clear stories and the main points of familiar situations.
196
If you pass level B2, you can understand longer explanations, reasons, consequences, and opinions when the topic is not familiar.
197
If you passed C1, you can understand abstract ideas, implied meaning, tone, attitude, and natural humor.
198
And if you passed C2, then your comprehension is extremely strong.
199
You can understand complex, fast, and native-style English with little difficulty.
200
Now I want you guys to comment your results.

「What’s Your Real ENGLISH Level? Take This A1–C2 Test」
