1
if you want to be interesting you have to be interested
2
and incorporating these five simple things into my week really helped
3
me to start to feel like i was having better conversations
4
that i felt excited about life again and overall just this general sense
5
that i was actually using my brain and not just letting it run away
6
if you're new here my name is jc
7
and i post all about small things
8
that will make a big difference in how you feel in
9
your everyday life i made a part one to this video
10
and there were hundreds of comments asking for a part two
11
so here are five more things
12
that i think will help you live a more interesting life
13
the first one is a really cool way to go a little bit deeper into the things
14
that you're already consuming we are all consuming things books tv shows movies songs video games
15
and often we just take them at face value
16
and we don't really know what went in behind the scenes start by taking something
17
that you love the book you're reading the video game
18
that you're playing a song that you love listening to
19
and start to look up the person that created it
20
and what inspired them to bring it to life maybe you can watch a video of the video game
21
and see how the developers created the world
22
or you listen to the author
23
that you're reading give a talk on how she thought about creating the characters
24
or you watch a video of a music producer bringing
25
that song to life and all the different little elements
26
that they use to create the music once you start doing
27
this you will be absolutely fascinated behind the minds of your favorite things
28
and it will help you to appreciate all of the little tiny details
29
that you probably didn't notice at first
30
and i guarantee it will make you love it even more
31
second is to use primary sources i feel like we learned this when we were in school,
32
when you were writing essays that you had to cite primary documents,
33
but then somewhere along the way of social media and hearing like thousands of people's opinions a day,
34
we kind of forgot how to formulate our own opinions on something.
35
Next time you're scrolling or you're online and you hear a take on something,
36
instead of just absorbing that opinion as your own,
37
try to find the source that they're talking about.
38
Find the original article, find the original video,
39
go to the library and read about the topic,
40
and practice making your own opinion about things.
41
I find that when I do this,
42
I am so much more confident in the conversations that I'm having
43
because I actually know the reasoning behind my opinion rather than just regurgitating someone else's.
44
Third is to keep a running list of questions and resist the urge to immediately Google them or chat to BT them.
45
Curiosity is one of my favorite traits about myself and about other people.
46
And I noticed that in conversations I was having,
47
if someone were to pose a question,
48
immediately one of us would just look it up and the conversation would be killed right away.
49
And of course, we've all kind of been trained to want instant gratification,
50
but I actually kind of miss the meandering,
51
wandering thought process or conversation that comes when you don't know the answer to something.
52
And keeping this running list of the things
53
that you're curious about is kind of like planting seeds that become the way that you look at the world.
54
If you start to do this and you let questions just sit there without finding the answers,
55
I guarantee you will have such interesting conversations.
56
You will start to use it as a filter for the way
57
that you're looking at the world
58
and you'll piece together all of these tiny little details to
59
start to figure it out there's been a lot of studies about learning
60
and memory and they say that
61
if you want to remember something it has to be implanted into your frame of reference of the world
62
if you just google something
63
and get an answer you didn't really do anything to like
64
go through the journey to learn it we used to have
65
to go to the library look for a book on
66
that topic and that whole process really helped us to cement the information now we're consuming
67
so much that i find for myself i get frustrated
68
because it was just an instant answer
69
and there was no real work i had to put in to get there
70
so keeping this list of questions also leads right into my next idea
71
which is to create a curiosity map i had
72
so much fun making this i did this off a book i was reading
73
and i started to pull out all of the topics
74
that i felt that i wanted to know more about
75
and maybe they're not really related at first
76
so you'll just start to make bubbles on your page of
77
topic one topic two topic three topic four topic five
78
and then you'll start to make branches off of each of those bubbles
79
and link them to other topics
80
and all of a sudden you'll have this huge map of things
81
that you're interested in that probably relate to some of the questions
82
that you're curious about and you can spend time going really deep on each of these bubbles
83
or maybe it's just a lifelong process there doesn't need to be any stress or deadlines,
84
I feel like having a topic or project that you're continuously engaged in really adds so much depth into your life.
85
Talking about curiosity and learning and making your life feel more interesting is one of my favorite topics.
86
So I can make this into a whole series
87
if you guys want another part or a deeper dive into any of these ideas.
88
The last one for today is to learn how to ask better questions.
89
If you're having boring conversations,
90
it's probably because you're stuck in like the small talk.
91
And I feel like learning about a person in that way also helps you to learn more about yourself too.
92
So if you guys need help asking good questions,
93
I love this card game called Candid.
94
And I know there's a lot of conversation card games that help you to get to know someone new.
95
But what I love about this card game in particular is
96
that it's actually designed to help you get to know the people that you know really well, even better.
97
So these questions are a mix of serious and silly and playful.
98
One of my favorite questions from this deck is if you had to give your whole brain and consciousness to someone else,
99
what is a thought pattern that you would want to eradicate before you gave it to them.
100
And there's also like many silly ones.
101
When I first read that question,
102
I was like, wow, if I had to give my consciousness to my best friend,
103
what thought would I never want them to have?
104
And then that really led me to think like,
105
oh, well, why do I still think that thought then?
106
Because it's me and me for the rest of my life.
107
There are so many good ones in here.
108
I literally always keep this in my bag when I'm going out
109
because you never know when you're going to need something like this.
110
Okay.
111
That's enough for today.
112
If you're new here, my name is JC.
113
I post videos every single week on how to make your life feel more fulfilling,
114
more joyful, more interesting.
115
So follow for more and the next one's coming soon.
116

แนวทางการฝึกด้วยการ Shadowing
