Okay, bodice block today.
8
Dropping a bodice block may seem intimidating, but it's actually quite straightforward.
9
However, before we dive into the tutorial, I want to clarify a common misconception about bodice blocks.
10
Some people believe that having a bodice block is a magical solution that allows you to create any garment you want.
11
But I want to say that's not true.
12
While it's possible to use a bodice block to create garments with a similar fit to the bodice block,
13
many designs deviate significantly from the bodice block.
14
For instance, if you wanted to create shirts or jackets like these examples,
15
you would have to modify the bodice block by adjusting the underarm point,
16
shoulder width, neck width, armhole curve, and adding proper ease for each design.
17
Even if you start with a bodice block that perfectly fits,
18
you will still need to adjust it for each design and do multiple fittings to get the final fit you want.
19
So instead of solely focusing on having a pattern block,
20
it's essential to learn and understand the basics of bodice block making.
21
This includes understanding how to determine dart width, how to apply measurement to patterns,
22
how much ease is appropriate for each design,
23
how to adjust patterns for different body shapes, postures, and fabrics.
24
Once you comprehend these principles, you don't need bodice blocks to make design patterns.
25
You will be able to make any patterns from scratch.
26
With that said, I'll show you an easy method for creating a woman's body's block today.
27
Let's get started.
28
You need body measurement.
29
Chest circumference, waist circumference, shoulder width,
30
back length, apex length, and bust span.
31
You can measure cross chest and cross back if you want, but you don't have to.
32
We can calculate with the shoulder width later.
33
If you need help taking body measurement, I have a how to measure guide.
34
You can download it on my website, patternstudio101.com.
35
It's free.
36
Draw a rectangle.
37
Vertical is the back length.
38
Horizontal is half of your chest plus one inch or one inch and a half.
39
The total ease will be 2 to 3 inches.
40
From the center back, measure down chest divided by 4 minus half of an inch for the armhole depth
41
and draw an underarm line.
42
I don't calculate armhole depth with the chest circumference, but this can be a good starting point.
43
I made an armhole depth chart by types of designs.
44
Go to my website patternstudio101.com and download it.
45
Find a midpoint on the horizontal line.
46
If you draw a line here, then the front and back chest will be the same, right?
47
But I will move the point 1 8th of an inch towards the back.
48
So my front is a little bit bigger than the back.
49
Depending on the cup size, you can make an even bigger front than this.
50
Draw a side seam.
51
Let's draw the back.
52
From the center back neck point, measure chest divided by 12.
53
And divide this by 3 and go up the same length. and draw a neckline.
54
From the center back neck point, measure half of the shoulder width.
55
Go down 3 eighths of an inch.
56
Connect the high shoulder point.
57
We're going to have a half of an inch width dart on the shoulder.
58
So extend the line by half of an inch.
59
So this is now the shoulder point.
60
From the shoulder point, measure in half of an inch and draw on crossback guideline.
61
You can draw an armhole curve.
62
The armhole curve will touch the cross back line around halfway.
63
To draw a shoulder dart,
64
find a midpoint on the shoulder and find a midpoint on the underarm line, half of the cross back.
65
Connect two points.
66
The dart length is about 3 inches.
67
Mark quarter of an inch on each side.
68
Make a dart.
69
The width is half of an inch, right?
70
To true the shoulder seam, lengthen the dart legs by about 3 sixteenths of an inch.
71
True the shoulder line.
72
my video episode 20 i explained how to draw a dart properly the link will be in the description box
73
determine how much you want to take out at the waist for example
74
if the chest is 35 inches
75
and the waist is 27 inches the difference is now 8
76
inches then you're going to take out 4 inches here because it's a half body.
77
You can take out the same amount throughout all the darts, back, front and side seam.
78
But because it's a woman's body, you might want to take out a little bit bigger at the front like this.
79
You can adjust the portion according to the cup size and when you do fitting.
80
Once you determine the dart width,
81
draw a straight line from this midpoint and draw a back dart.
82
Lengthen the dart width about 1 1⁄8 or 3 16th of an inch and through the hemline and draw a side seam.
83
You already know how much you want to take in.
84
Right?
85
The back body is done.
86
Let's practice the front.
87
Measure chest divided by 12 on both vertical and horizontal lines. And draw a neckline.
88
From the center front, measure half of the shoulder width.
89
Go down 1 1⁄2.
90
When you compare the front and back shoulders, they can be the same angle or the front shoulder can be a little more slopped.
91
Draw a shoulder line.
92
Measure the back shoulder length without the darts and find the same on the front shoulder.
93
For the cross front, from the shoulder point, go in 3 quarters of an inch.
94
This is good for the cross front.
95
You can revise when you do fitting.
96
Draw an armhole curve.
97
The armhole curve touches around a one-third point of this guideline.
98
Let's find the apex.
99
From the center front, half of the bust is spun.
100
from the high shoulder point to the apex.
101
So this is the apex.
102
From the apex, throw a guideline to the side seam and the waist.
103
At the side seam, half of an inch on each side.
104
I'm making a one inch width dart.
105
The bigger the cup size, the larger the dart width.
106
You can make a bigger dart or smaller dart depending on your cup size.
107
We're going to lengthen the front body at the hand by the same amount of the side dart, whatever your dart width.
108
At the side seam, take out the same amount you took out at the back side seam.
109
Connect to the dart.
110
And we already calculated the front dart width, right?
111
So make a dart.
112
And lengthen the dart legs by 3 16ths of an inch and through the waist.
113
Okay, front is in green and back is in pink.
114
As I said in the beginning, fitting is a really important process to get the patterns with a great fit.

Về Bài Học Này

Bạn đang luyện tập phát âm tiếng Anh với video "How to Create a Women’s Bodice Block from Body Measurements [Pattern Making Tutorial]" bằng phương pháp Shadowing — kỹ thuật được Dr. Alexander Arguelles phổ biến rộng rãi.
