1
You can't pour from an empty cup.
2
You want to overcome burnout?
3
Here are three things that I'm going to tell you to do.
4
Number one, you may find that you're really creative.
5
You have a creative thought.
6
You have great ideas.
7
Even though you're tired, stop then and record what those ideas are.
8
Sometimes in the middle of burnout, you get your best ideas, but you don't wanna move forward because you're already so tired.
9
That does not negate the great idea.
10
Take the time, record it, write it down, take a picture so that after you've had an opportunity to rest and restore,
11
now you can come back and create around that idea.
12
I wanted to bring that to your attention because I have found when I said I'm done, I can't think, I can't speak anymore, that's when a great idea comes.
13
And I have also learned that if I write it down, if I record it at that point, that when I am refreshed, I can really flow on the rest of that idea.
14
The second thing that I'm going to tell you to do, if you're feeling burnout, get some rest.
15
Even though you feel like you can't afford to stop, things are going to fall apart.
16
If you stop, They will not.
17
Anything will hold for 24 hours.
18
Get yourself some rest because if you push through it, you will be into the land of diminishing marginal returns.
19
Everything that you try to do will take twice as long.
20
You may find that you're making mistakes or you may find that you can't get to that next thought because you're done.
21
But if you get some rest, you will give your mind and your body,
22
your spirit and your soul an opportunity to restore and refresh and maybe even to rejuvenate.
23
In my earlier life, I had no respect for sleep.
24
I was what you might call the all-nighter queen.
25
I could easily pull an all-nighter, get ready for my 8 a.m classes, go throughout the rest of the day,
26
get to dinner the next day, and maybe I would start to feel a little bit of fatigue, get through those problem sets, and then I would get some rest.
27
But I could do that several times a week.
28
In fact, I was so good at staying up all night.
29
I did the midnight to eight shifts as I was a
30
security guard during my undergraduate career for one of the on-campus buildings.
31
Even when I started my career, it was nothing for me to take the red eye.
32
Well, I was much earlier in my life at that point,
33
and so I wasn't aware of the dulled senses or the fact that the creative juices weren't flowing as fast.
34
Now, after a few years on the job, a few decades on the job,
35
I can see the difference in my idea generation when I've had a good night's sleep and when I have not.
36
So getting the rest will help you overcome the burnout.
37
And the third thing that I'm going to ask you is whether
38
or not you have fully prosecuted the opportunity that is before you.
39
Is there anything else for you to learn from this role?
40
Are there any other experiences that you can garner from this experience.
41
Lastly, are there new relationships that you can acquire from the experience that you're prosecuting right now?
42
Maybe you're feeling burnout because you have now fully prosecuted the seat
43
that you're in and it's time for you to conquer a new seat.
44
So if you're feeling burnt out, check the rest, check whether or not you have fully prosecuted the seat,
45
and take advantage of any new idea that might come even though you're feeling the way you might be feeling.
46
Go get them.

影子跟读法练习技巧
视频语速适中,语气亲切自然,非常适合“shadow speech”练习。建议先逐句播放,模仿发音与语调,尤其注意“you can't pour from an empty cup”等比喻句的重音处理。对于长句如“if you push through it, you will be into the land of diminishing marginal returns”,可拆分意群,练习流畅度。
